Flu Season is Here

* Un message en français suivra ** Flu season is here! The flu is caused by influenza viruses, which infect the respiratory tract (i.e., the nose, throat, lungs). Influenza tends to spread rapidly in seasonal epidemics. Most infected people recover within one to two weeks without requiring medical treatment. However, in the very young, the elderly, and those with other serious medical conditions, infection can lead to severe complications of the underlying condition, pneumonia and death. Our healthcare professionals strongly encourage you to get your flu shot. It is the single best way to prevent the flu. The flu vaccine is now available at Mirus Medical. You can ask for your flu shot when you come in for your next regular appointment or you can come in without an appointment between the hours of 8:30 to 16:30, Monday to Friday, to see one of our nurses. If you’ve already had your flu shot please let us know by replying to this email or by calling the clinic at 613-369-5060. Beat the flu!  Get your flu shot.

When can I register?

Our first registration day is fast approaching and we’d like to answer some burning questions. If we didn’t answer one of your questions here, please email us, tweet us, or send us a private message on Facebook. When can I register? We’re holding our first registration day on Saturday, April 4th from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Where can I register? Registration is taking place at our new office located at 1637 Woodroffe Avenue. Take the elevator or stairs to the 3rd floor. Our office is in Suite 301. What do I have to bring with me? Don’t forget to bring a valid Ontario Health Card and a completed New Patient Form for each patient you would like to register. What if my child is over the age of 16? Your teenager must be present to fill out their own form. What if my child is under the age of 16? You can add your child onto the forms you will fill out on Saturday. What can I expect on Saturday? When you get here, we’ll introduce ourselves and give you some additional forms to fill out. Depending on how busy it is, we’ll give you a number to make sure that everyone is served on a first come, first served basis. The registration process shouldn’t take more than 30 minutes of your time. Can I still register if I already have a family doctor? You sure can! All we ask is that you call the Ministry of Health at 1-888-376-5197 to “de-roster” with your current family physician before Saturday. I can’t make it this Saturday. Are any other... read more

Follow us on Twitter or ‘Like’ us on Facebook for updates. Complete a New Patient Form for each patient you’d like to register. If you have a preference, don’t forget to circle the name of the doctor you’d like to be assigned to (upper right corner of the New Patient Form).
